John Bizzack and Marvin Adcock songs have floated around Nashville for some years. These guys aren't your typical Music Row writers though. They've made the rounds and have written with many talented other songwriters. Like many of those writers, Bizzack performed at writer's nights at the Bluebird Cafe and Douglas Corner and Adcock honed his musical skills with his own band, The Sunndogs, but that is where the similarity with typical songwriters stops.
"Good solid music, intelligent lyrics - lively and classically eloquent!"
They met by chance and found common ground in their musical taste and influences. A close friendship quickly developed as they penned dozens of new songs, traded ideas, and traveled back and forth to Nashville producing and recording their creations at Brush Hill Studio, Studio 19, Bayou and with their close friend and well-known Nashville lead guitarist, Andy Reiss.
After successes and songs cut by other artists, Bizzack and Adcock wrote songs specifically for a CD project they titled Memory Like Mine. They pulled together some of Nashville’s most talented session players, led by Andy Reiss, and top vocalists to record the material for that specific project and released it under the name of Pistol River. As a result, many of the songs from the project charted around the country drawing attention to the production style and writing.
The other players in Pistol River carry extensive and impressive musical resumes ranging from tours with major artists, performances and studio sessions with Reba, George Strait, B.J., Thomas, Glen Campbell, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Charlie Daniels, Vern Godson, Linda Davis, Conway Twitty, Clay Walker, Mandy Barnett, Don McLean, The Everly Brothers, Billy Dean, Charlie Rich, Loretta Lynn, Joe Diffie, Lori Morgan, Tracey Lawrence and Eddy Rabbit, to name a few.
